While they don’t have the largest selection of breast pumps, because they don’t specialize in breast pump equipment, they do offer quite a few, and they work with a lot of insurance companies, so this may be some people’s only option.
However, some users have cited that the wrong paperwork was sent, causing a delay in their claim getting approved.
Phone is also their only form of customer service. They don’t have an email or a live chat on the website, which could be what causes the delays and so much frustration.
Spectra S2 Plus
While Edgepark sells plenty of different varieties, what you purchase will depend on what your insurance covers. Their top-selling pump is the Spectra S2 Plus. It’s hard to know if that’s because people like it, because Edgepark pushes it, or because it’s the pump that most insurance companies cover.
However, it does come with some great features, and if you choose to go with Edgepark, it’s likely it will be one of the best options for you as well. It’s quiet, comfortable, and more stylish than a lot of the other options.

We definitely preferred the Spectra S2 Plus version in this matchup. The Spectra S2 Plus does everything it's peers do, but has a smaller footprint and is much more portable. As anyone with a newborn knows, there's only SO much space on the nightstand. So where can you buy?
Alternatives
Given that there seems to be slight dissatisfaction in customer service with Edgepark, the hope is that there would be plenty of alternatives. Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot. However, there is one direct competitor that is awesome and one that’s just so-so. Let’s take a look.
Aeroflow
Aeroflow has only been around for 10 years, but they already excel at customer service. People seem to be very happy with their experience and the pumping supplies they’ve received. People say there were no delays in their shipment and they often got their order in less than 10 days from the date of placing it.
They use a modern approach to running their company and while their parent company is a durable medical equipment company, the Aeroflow Breastpumps subsidiary specializes in breast pumps only.
Their site is a bit more user-friendly, you can view the breast pumps they offer without entering your state and insurance provider first, and they have a much larger selection from which to choose. However, not all of these will be available to every person, depending on what your insurance covers.
Even better, they have a live chat on their site for your convenience any time you need it. There are also tons of other ways to contact them including phone, email, and social media links. They also have postpartum recovery resources as well as feeding accessories you can order straight from the site.
The only downside to Aeroflow is that you can’t use it if it doesn’t work with your insurance provider. They work with slightly fewer options than Edgepark, but they still work with a majority of the larger providers as well as some smaller options.
Byram Healthcare
Byram Healthcare also ships breast pumps covered by insurance and the process is nearly identical. You enter your insurance information, choose the breast pump you want, and it ships to your door.
They offer a lot of different models, they work with a lot of different companies, and they have a ton of resources on their site. Their customer service is very friendly and helpful upfront with a lot of different contact options. You can call, email, live chat, or use social media, making the entire ordering process seamless. It would seem that they’re very similar in almost every way to Aeroflow, but they’ve been around for 50 years.
However, despite being friendly and helpful, users report that their representatives consistently gave inaccurate information about how much their breast pumps would cost. Byram representatives reportedly told new mothers that their breast pumps would be covered at 100% only to find out later that insurance covered none of it, and they were stuck with the bill.
That also means Byram shipped a breast pump that wasn’t covered. However, it’s hard to say what really happened. Insurance companies are notorious for auditing covered individuals after the fact and claiming products and services were never intended to be covered.
There’s no telling whether Byram or the insurance company was at fault in these situations, so you should always use caution when trusting your insurance provider to cover a product or service.
Insurance providers
Many times, your insurance provider will offer a portal on which you can order a breast pump. You may be able to contact your insurance provider directly and ask them if they cover breast pumps for pregnant women and clarify how they prefer you order one.

Perhaps it has something to do with the pandemic or weather-related concerns, but if that’s the case, they haven’t indicated it anywhere on their site.
Answer: Edgepark does accept Medicare on most items, which means they’ll accept a Medicare reimbursement, but they do not bill Medicare for diabetes supplies. As we all know by now, this can be tricky, because not only is Edgepark notoriously unreliable, but Medicare can be, too.
Final Thoughts
This review didn’t turn out to be as favorable as I had hoped, but I wouldn’t want to steer any new mother wrong. Motherhood is stressful enough. Edgepark is a viable option if you can work closely with them to get your breast pump ordered far enough in advance that you can overcome any delays.
They work with a lot of different insurance companies and they have a good offering of breast pumps from which to choose. If Aeroflow works with your insurance provider, I would suggest going through them.
However, I would suggest budgeting and paying cash for the breast pump you want before dealing with Edgepark. I would only use Edgepark if it were my last resort. I understand why some people must, but I certainly wouldn’t if I could help it.
