UPPAbaby 2017 Vista Stroller Review – As Versatile as Your Family

Last Updated on

It is with great excitement that we welcome the new UPPAbaby 2017 Vista Stroller, perfect for parents that are looking for a top notch, versatile stroller. The 2017 model comes with “upper class” features such as hand-sewn premium leather accents, a rain shield, the ability to add an additional seat and a bassinet to name but a few!

In 2015, the UPPAbaby Vista range underwent a complete makeover which included a new frame, the ability to add a second seat and a bigger basket. The new design really puts the UPPAbaby range back on the map and we are excited to see that they are still improving!

UPPAbaby Recalls

Park of the makeover was in response to a series of recalls for the 2015 version, including, the Cruz, Vista, and RumbleSeat by UPPAbaby. About 71,000 units were recalled in total, with a recall date as of July 23rd, 2015.

The main cause for concern was the bumper bar on the strollers posing a choking hazard. It was possible for children to bite the bar and remove a pieces of the foam covering!

The new 2017 version appears to have fixed these issues (see below).

Improvements: 2015 model vs. 2017 model

So let’s start with the one question everyone has in mind: Is there much difference between the 2015 and 2017 model? UPPAbaby did make some changes to the 2017 but they aren’t major changes compared to the 2015 model.

The UPPAbaby Vista 2017 has a narrower frame than the 2015 model and is also available in an array of new, trendy colors. Perhaps the biggest improvement on the 2017 model is the wheels, manufactured from solid polyurethane. This provides a smoother ride for baby and also makes the stroller easier to steer on any type of terrain you might encounter.

UPPAbaby also improved the fabric used on their 2017 model and one has the option of adding a genuine leather handlebar and bumper bar for that extra pizazz. The 2017 model is also a little lighter but not by much.

The UPPAbaby 2017 Vista Stroller

Aside from its good looks, the versatility of the UPPAbaby 2017 Vista stroller is probably what makes it so popular amongst parents right now. The stroller has the ability to grow with your family as your children progress through the different stages of childhood.

The stroller includes a bassinet which can be used with the stroller, perfect for those first few months during the infant stage.

As your baby grows, you get to make use of the very stylish, very comfortable stroller and our favorite attribute? You can add another seat to the stroller when your second child is born! It addresses a problem that parents have faced for years now – having a new baby while your toddler is not quite yet ready to stroll around on his or her own yet.

The Bassinet:

The bassinet is suitable from birth to 20 lbs. or until your baby is able to sit up using their hands and knees. There’s no need to go out and purchase one separately as it is already included with your stroller. The bassinet fits perfectly within the Vista 2017 stroller and faces the handlebar so you are always able to keep a close eye on your beautiful little baby.

We love that UPPAbaby has gone to great lengths to make the bassinet as safe as possible. The bassinet features a perforated mattress along with a vented base and canopy, creating good airflow and providing you with peace of mind as your baby naps. It also has an inner liner that simply zips open, making it easy to remove and easy to clean. A boot cover is also included with the bassinet, making sure that your baby is kept nice and warm without the hassle of too many blankets.

One can buy a bassinet stand as an additional accessory from UPPAbaby, providing you with the option of transferring the bassinet from the stroller to the stand, creating a safe place for your baby to sleep in during the infancy stage. This works wonders if you travel quite a lot seeing that the stand and bassinet don’t take up as much space as a camping cot usually would. Keep in mind though that baby will quickly outgrow the bassinet so it will depend on your individual needs on whether it is worth getting a stand or not.

Another great feature we just have to mention again is the ventilated canopy. You simply unzip part of the canopy, prop it up and viola, air flows in and out of the canopy while your baby is still protected from any creepy crawlies and/or direct sunlight!

The UPPAbaby Vista 2017 Stroller

The stroller seat is suitable for babies from 3 months old and can hold up to a maximum weight of 50 lbs.

Assembling the stroller:

The UPPAbaby Vista 2017stroller is easy to assemble and shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes if you’ve already unpacked the different parts. There is no need for any tools when putting the stroller or bassinet together, the different pieces simply click into position. The stroller seat also comes with a nice dust protector should wish to store your stroller later on.

The frame and the fold:

The frame is manufactured from a combination of aluminum and magnesium, creating a strong, durable product that is light and easy to maneuver. Once set up, the stroller weighs approximately 38 pounds. Though it is a little on the heavier side, keep in mind that is designed to hold two children with a maximum weight limit of 50 lbs.

The UPPAbaby Vista 2017, like the 2015 model, is easy to fold and can stand upright when folded. Once folded, the stroller is fairly flat and won’t take up too much storage space in your home.

One of the biggest changes that UPPAbaby implemented in their 2017 model, is that of the solid polyurethane wheels. This almost guarantees a smooth ride on any type of terrain that you and your little one might encounter. The stroller also has front and rear shock-absorbing suspension for the ultimate comfort.

The seat:

One of the UPPAbaby Vista 2017 biggest attributes is that you can have the stroller seat facing either forward or backward, depending on your baby’s age and needs. Once again, the versatility of this stroller becomes evident. While your baby is still young, you most probably want to keep an eye on him or her (and they on you) and once they hit the stage of curiosity, simply change the seat from a backward-facing to a forward-facing seat so that they can explore the world around them!

Not only can you change the seat from either forward facing or backward facing, but once a new sibling arrives, you simply purchase an additional chair from UPPAbaby, making sure that both your children can still be transported safely while you are out of your home.

The UPPAbaby can also be used for twins as it is able to accommodate two bassinets, two seats or even two car seats at one time! As if we haven’t already proven how versatile this stroller is, you can also make space for your toddler with the PiggyBack Ride Along board, which enables him or her to hitch a ride in a standing position. Note that the board is sold separately.

The storage basket on the UPPAbaby Vista 2017 is still the same size as the 2015 model but provides ample space when out and about. As we already mentioned, this was one of the accessories that were updated during the big renovation in 2015. One can easily fit a diaper bag in the storage basket down below.

The extendable canopy sunshade material is still 50 SPF but was also improved to a new, woven fabric that provides maximum protection for your little baby. The canopy also has a peek a boo window for you to keep an eye on your baby.

The stroller offers multiple reclining positions up to 180 degrees, providing the maximum comfort for your baby when traveling. The stroller also comes with a rain shield to protect your little one on a rainy, cloudy day.

The UPPAbaby Vista 2017 has an adjustable, telescoping handlebar for parents which ensure that everyone has a comfortable day out no matter who is behind the wheel!

The extras:

The UPPAbaby Vista 2017 has a simplistic, elegant design. Though the stroller does not include items such as a snack tray or a cup holder, these can still be bought separately should you wish to do so.

They also have car seat adapters available (if you wish to travel with your car seat instead of the bassinet) as well as extra car seats, bassinets and stroller seats sold separately if you have more than one child and would like to transform the stroller in order to transport multiple kids.

Some Alternatives to Try

Here are some alternatives to try if you are not quite yet sure whether the new UPPAbaby Vista 2017 is suitable for your family:

The Britax 2017 B-Agile Stroller

The Britax 2017 B-Agile stroller weighs only 18 lbs., a very light alternative when compared to the UPPABaby Vista 2017 which weighs 38 lbs. The stroller, manufactured from aluminum, can carry a maximum weight of 55 lbs. and although we love that it is light and easy to carry around, keep in mind that aside from a car seat that transforms this stroller into a travel system, no additional seats can be added. Its three-wheel design makes the B-Agile stroller easy to maneuver in small isles and steering becomes a real breeze thanks to the front swivel wheels.

The stroller also folds using only one hand though it doesn’t stand on its own very well. The canopy is large, providing good protection against the sun. Much like the UPPAbaby Vista, the Britax 2017 B-Agile has a large storage basket. Unfortunately what this stroller really lacks is a decent footrest for your toddler. This oversight can become quite an irritation as your little one grows older. It is also sold without a child tray/parent tray, but these items can be bought separately. The Britax does make use of the easy “Click and go” system and we appreciate that the Click and go receivers are included when buying the stroller.

The Baby Jogger 2016 City Select Double Stroller with Second Seat

We picked the Baby Jogger 2016 City Select Double Stroller due to its ability to add an additional seat to the stroller. The stroller can be converted into a single stroller, a double stroller, a triple stroller and a travel system! The Baby Jogger 2016 City Select Double Stroller weighs 35 lbs., not too different from the 38 lbs. UPPAbaby Vista 2017.

This maximum weight recommendation on this stroller is 45 lbs. but the stroller boasts with Quick-Fold Technology and a hand-operated parking brake. Their canopies provide ample shade and unlike the Britax 2017 B-Agile stroller, it does have a small foot rest. The stroller’s name might be a little confusing as it is called the Baby Jogger but note that this stroller is not intended for jogging. A glider can be attached to the stroller in order to accommodate a 3rd child on the Baby Jogger 2016. The Baby Jogger also has a telescoping handlebar which can be adjusted to your height for a more comfortable outing.

Final Take: Worth it?

Parents are falling in love with the UPPAbaby range and it is easy to see why. The UPPAbaby 2017 Vista Strolleris an excellent quality stroller that is versatile AND good looking. The 2017 Vista is small enough to take up little storage space and yet large enough to accommodate your growing family.

We love that the UPPAbaby 2017 Vista addressed the needs of modern parents, taking care to manufacturing not only a versatile stroller but one that can be used for many years and still have a sleek, stylish, modern look. The UPPAbaby 2017 Vista makes stroller a walk in the park, no matter where you jet off to with your kids.
