Kinderpack vs Tula: Are These The Best Carriers?

Kinderpack vs Tula: Are These The Best Carriers?

These days, it’s not hard to find a baby carrier that works for you and your family’s needs. Whether those needs be a carrier that can be used often over a long period or one that’s specifically designed for infants, there’s something out there for everyone.

So it’s no real surprise that right now, it might be a trying time just because it’s so hard to choose from the many options, like the Kinderpack vs Baby Tula for example.

Both brands offer a lot of different options when it comes to infant and toddler carriers and when you look at the standard carrier for both, there are some clear similarities. For example, both carriers allow children to be carried in the hip healthy m-shaped ergonomic position.

And they’re both designed to work with children from the baby stage through toddlerhood. Essentially, you can use either carrier until your child simply doesn’t want or need to be carried anymore.

They both also have a thick band that wraps around the waist to add extra support and takes some of the weight off your shoulders when wearing your baby.

But, of course, there are also some big differences between the two carriers that are important to consider. The panel on the Kinderpack is two inches wider than that of the Baby Tula, so you could potentially have a little more wiggle room for your growing little one. Then again, the Baby Tula is a little more affordable than the Kinderpack, so there are good and bad aspects all around.

And standard carriers from both offer fun and interesting prints to choose from. At the end of the day, what matters most is that you find an acceptable carrier that’s safe and comfortable for your little one. And when you compare the Kinderpack vs. the Baby Tula, you can see which is the stronger option of the two.

About the Kinderpack kinderpack baby carrier

The standard Kinderpack Standard Baby Carrier is designed to fit children from eight months old up to three years old. This eliminates the need to eventually size up if you buy a different carrier that doesn’t allow carrying up to that age.

Technically, the carrier is made for kids from 20-40 pounds, though. So as long as your child falls in that range, he or she should be in good hands with the Kinderpack Standard Baby Carrier.

It comes with a sunshade that can be pulled over your child’s head if needed, but when it’s not in use, it can be stored right in the carrier for safe keeping.

You can also purchase a zippered waist pouch separately to go with the carrier and make it possible for you to put your important items in it while wearing the carrier. The straps themselves come in two different sizes to accommodate parents and caregivers, which can make a huge difference in comfort.

The standard size is designed to fit adult sizes 0-22 with 19-20 inch straps and 13 inches of webbing and a waistband fit of 26-60 inches. The plus size straps are for sizes 18 and up with 24-inch straps and 13 inches of webbing and a waistband fit of 26-60 inches.

Kinderpack Features

  • It has a deeper seat, compared to the Baby Tula Carrier.
  • Since you can cross the straps in the back, you can make the carrier that much more comfortable for you each time.

Cons

  • At times, the straps might dig into your armpits while wearing the Kinderpack.
  • It might be a little pricey for some families.
  • Since the minimum age and weight requirement is eight months and 20 pounds, you can’t use this Kinderpack with small babies or infants.

Kinderpack Reviews

kinderpack carrier

“So comfy! I thought nothing could be comfier than an Ergo until I got this! It’s also very adjustable. It can be adjusted along either side of the buckle, which totally eliminates underarm rub! They also now come standard with PFAs (perfect fit adjusters), which allow you to adjust the length of the padding so the same carrier can be shared between a six foot 200 pound man and a 5’5″ 130 pound woman!” – kbaby2691 on BabyCenter.com.

“I just got my Kinderpack today!! I also have an Ergo but have not worn it in months… Initial impression is very positive. I got the Toddler size for my 99th percentile height 15 month old. It’s perfect. It’s high on her back, but not too high, and there is room to grow in general. I am very happy with the quality of the fabric, stitching etc too. And my little one seems to like it too because she took a long snooze in it today.” – Oankali on BabyCenter.com.

“My Kinderpack is worth its weight in gold! I bought it new, and it was definitely a splurge for us, but I have never regretted it. I got an infant, and it still fits well at 14 months. I got it when he was five months, so he wasn’t teeny tiny, and didn’t need to break it in at all. The first time I wore it he fell asleep, so I ended up wearing him for three hours, and it was comfortable the whole time.” – heidioch on BabyCenter.com.

Baby Tula Standard Carrier

One of the qualities you can count on with the Baby Tula is the ability to adjust its fit for you at pretty much any time. You can adjust the shoulder straps and side straps before you put it on or even while wearing it to get the best fit possible.

You can wear it as either a back or front carrier, but in both instances, your little one will be in a hip healthy ergonomic position at all times. There’s also added leg padding to support your little one’s legs as they grow and to keep them from getting uncomfortable over time. This is especially important if you need to wear the carrier for long periods of time.

Unlike the Kinderpack, however, the standard Baby Tula can be used with infants right from the start as long as you have an infant insert. So this could potentially be the only carrier you’ll ever use, as long as your baby is comfortable and you don’t mind it either. And even without the infant insert, your baby can start using the Baby Tula when they’re as small as 15 pounds.

Tula Carrier Features

  • Positions: It can be worn in both a back and front carrying position.
  • Materials Used: The carrier is made from 100% cotton.
  • Child Weight Capacity: With an infant insert, it can hold newborns, but without, the carrier is designed for little ones from 15-60 pounds.
  • Has This Item Been Recalled? There are no recent, or current recalls on the Baby Tula.

Pros

  • The curved shoulders make the carrier easier on the armpits, so there’s less of a chance of the fabric or straps digging in.
  • It’s less expensive overall than the Kinderpack.
  • It can be used for children from infancy all the way to toddlerhood and even longer than the Kinderpack.
  • Getting your little one in and out of the carrier is simple.

Cons

  • The back of the carrier isn’t as tall as the Kinderpack.
  • There could be more shoulder padding, especially if you plan to wear it for long periods of time.
  • Without more than one way to wear the straps, you could be stuck with one way that’s potentially uncomfortable for you.

Tula Carrier Reviews

baby tula carrier

“I just got my Tula today, and we loved it from the moment we opened it! It’s gorgeous and lightweight but of great quality. I put it on and put my seven month old in it and she looked so comfy! And I was comfy… Lots of support. I didn’t even feel like I was wearing her. I love that she’s so close and secure.” – Lauren Higginbotham on Amazon.

“I love this thing! My son is 14 months old, and he’s about the size of a three year old. So my problem was that he still wants to be held, but he’s starting to really get heavy. This solved my problem! He loves riding on my back because he can see and is my height off the ground. I would definitely recommend this carrier if you got a big baby!” – K. Scott on Amazon.

“This is the best money we spent on any baby items. It has been a life saver! I love it so much I just upgraded to the toddler size so I can continue wearing my son around. We have taken our Tula all over the world with us instead of dragging a stroller around. My son is comfortable and my husband and I know he is safe as he’s strapped to one of us. He has taken many naps in his Tula and it works great for breastfeeding on the go!” – Anne-Marie Burton Minor on Amazon.

The Verdict: Tula or Kinderpack?

The Kinderpack and Baby Tula carriers might seem like virtually the same thing at first glance, but there are some significant differences between them. And when it’s all said and done, the stronger option of the two is going to be the Baby Tula. It can be used from earlier on than the Kinderpack, and it’s even less expensive. So right there, the value is clear to see.

It doesn’t have the differently sized straps like the Kinderpack, but it does have curved shoulder straps that can be a lot more comfortable while wearing the carrier all day long. It’s also in the healthy M-shape for your little one’s most comfortable seating position. And since the Baby Tula has both your and your baby’s comfort in mind, it’s easy to see where it excels overall.

Final Thoughts on the Kinderpack vs Tula Debate

Both the Kinderpack and Baby Tula are solid options when it comes to baby and toddler carriers. They’re both also fairly similar to each other enough to almost not tell them apart. But the Baby Tula does have some differences that set it apart from the Kinderpack.

And when it comes right down to it, those differences are what make it stand out as the stronger option. It’s hard to say if that makes it “better,” so to speak. But it does make it a smarter choice for most parents. If you need a comfortable carrier that will also last for years and possibly be the only carrier you’ll ever need, then the Baby Tula is what’s best for your family.
