Things to Think About Before Buying Your Diapers

Absorbency

Unsurprisingly, this is probably one of the most important factors to consider. When your child has no control over their bladder, it’s essential that your chosen diaper can handle as much liquid as it can.

You’ll probably find that cheaper, budget brands (while inexpensive) will require frequent changing. This is because they are usually unable to cope with the amount of soiling that more popular brands can handle. It’s sometimes better to purchase diapers at a more premium rate to get the most for your money – and the best for your baby.

Softness

Your baby is going to be wearing a diaper for most of their early life, so it has to be soft and comfortable to wear in order to prevent discomfort, infections, or rashes.

There are plenty of diapers on the market that are hypoallergenic and cater to delicate skin. Look for premium quality materials and if you can, feel each diaper before you commit to buying so you can test it out for yourself first.

Stretch and fit

If a diaper doesn’t offer enough stretch then your baby will feel restricted. And by not contouring to your baby’s body, these diapers might allow leaks to seep through. Aim for diapers that have stretch in the waistband or enough moveability so that as your child grows, they can still be worn. This will offer maximum comfort, too.

Wetness indicator lines

These are so useful for understanding when your baby’s diaper needs changing. It’s not always easy to tell when a diaper is full, but diapers with an indicator will typically change color so you can quickly and easily see that you need to swap diapers.

Huggies Snug and Dry and Little Snugglers – An in-Depth Comparison

In this section of our guide, discover more information about the pros, cons and main features of each diaper brand. By comparing the two one after the other, you should find it much easier to see which one is best for your baby.

Huggies Snug and Dry Review

huggies snug and dry

Huggies Snug and Dry can be distinguished from other diapers by their unique and fun Disney Mickey Mouse designs. Older children who are aware of the character will love this feature. The overall size range starts from newborn and goes up to size 6. This means that if you love these diapers, you can stick with them through the important potty training years.

When it comes to the actual diaper, it’s made from a 4-layer Quilted Liner that’s designed to absorb wetness in a matter of seconds.

This is to help your baby stay dry and comfortable for longer. And to help you know when it’s time for a change, there’s a wetness indicator that changes color from yellow to blue. Each diaper can also absorb up to 23 x its weight, holding plenty of liquid when it needs to.

Huggies has actually recently improved the fit of their Snug and Dry diapers, creating a contoured shape to help prevent leaks. They’re also fragrance-free and free from other unnecessary chemicals like lotions, parabens, and elemental chlorine. They don’t contain any latex either, so if your child has allergies then Snug and Dry diapers will be perfectly suitable.

Of course, these diapers don’t come without a few downsides. One of them is that they’re not eco-friendly. In a world where sustainability is such a hot topic, Huggies could do better with this.

Some parents have also reported that the absorption properties haven’t been as good as they expected. It’s hard to tell if they just had faulty diapers, but you’ll need to keep a keen eye on this when you’re using them for the first time.

Little Snugglers Review

huggies little snugglers

Little Snugglers are one of the best-known diaper offerings from Huggies. Available from size preemie up to size 6, the range caters to a whole range of ages. This is great news for parents who are looking for the perfect diaper to fit their baby into, especially if their baby is born premature and needs something small.

Even better – the preemie size is designed to fit babies who may have part of their umbilical cord attached. This makes it comfortable for them while maintaining a good level of sanitation.

To keep things dry and comfortable, Little Snugglers are made with a Leak Lock System to ensure 12 hours of protection, day or night. This is achieved by the unique Leak Lock System. This absorbs wetness in seconds and helps keep your baby dry.

There’s also a barrier on the backside. This is made up of a pocket on the waistband of the back of the diper, which allows any mess to be caught before it leaks out of the top. In fact, Huggies claims to eliminate leaks for up to 12 hours using this technology.

It can be difficult to know when it’s time for your baby’s diaper to be changed. To help new parents out, Little Snugglers diapers have a wetness indicator that changes color when it’s ready to be changed. This is a great added feature – even if it’s one you’d expect from modern-day diapers.

One of the things we don’t like is that the inside padding can bunch up when wet. This can lead to discomfort and may also mean that you go through diapers quicker than you need to. This can also become expensive in the long run.

The Verdict: Huggies Snug and Dry vs Little Snugglers

While Huggies has got it right with both Snug and Dry and Little Snugglers, our overall winner is Little Snugglers. The biggest reason is that they’re far better suited for sensitive skin. And even if your baby’s skin isn’t overly sensitive, there’s no harm in choosing a diaper that’s hypoallergenic, super soft, and gentle. Quite the opposite, in fact.

That’s not to say Snug and Dry isn’t a comfortable diaper. Because it’s made from supersoft materials, it’s comfortable and able to be used by your baby for longer. One of the best things about both diaper options is that they’re free from unnecessary chemicals, including latex. If your baby suffers from an allergy then you can choose either one as they’re both perfectly safe.

Little Snugglers also caters to babies who are born prematurely. While a fairly specific requirement, this is such an important product offering for vulnerable babies who need it.

Unlike Snug and Dry, Little Snugglers’ umbilical cord cutout is fantastic for babies who may not have lost theirs at the point you need a diaper. Even the newborn diapers feature this, so there are options for babies sized up to 10lbs with an umbilical cord still attached. You might not need this feature, but it’s great for those who do.

Another great feature is that the diapers feature a soft and hypoallergenic outer cover, which helps your baby’s skin breathe. They’re also unscented and made with sensitive skin in mind. It’s interesting too that hospitals love Huggies Snug and Dry because it’s claimed they help keep skin clean and healthy.

Finally, we have to give the Mickey Mouse design a mention! A favorite character with young children around the world, it just adds those bonus points that Snug and Dry doesn’t quite have. As children grow older and become more aware of characters in popular culture (especially Disney), they’re sure to love the design on their diaper.

We would be happy to recommend both makes and Huggies Snug and Dry are best if you’re on a budget, but if you can afford to purchase the little extras that give Little Snugglers the edge, we think it’s worth the extra cost.
