Graco Sense2Soothe Swing With Cry Detection Technology Review

Graco Sense2Soothe Swing With Cry Detection Technology Review
Latest posts by Keith Lindner (see all)

One of the things every parent will need at some point is a solid baby swing. It can help soothe your infant in the seconds before you reach them to do it yourself and can help lull them to sleep when they need that constant steady motion to fall asleep at night or during nap times.

But at some point, parents are going to wonder what the best baby swing is and the Graco Sense2Soothe Swing with Cry Detection Technology could be the best option for any little one.

As the name suggests, the swing has technology that can detect your baby’s cries and adjust the swing settings accordingly to help soothe them. With a built-in microphone, the swing can pick up when your baby starts to cry and get fussy and, if they need to be vibrated or rocked back to sleep, the swing will help do just that.

Of course, there is the chance that your baby needs to be changed or needs a bottle, and unfortunately, the swing doesn’t cover that. But if they are in need of a little comfort by way of their swing, the technology built into it can help.

Graco Sense2Soothe Swing

The swing also has an AC adapter, so you won’t need to keep a steady stream of batteries on hand. Not only that, but the settings on the Graco Sense2Soothe Swing are designed to meet all of your fussy baby’s comfort needs. It has two different vibration settings, three recline positions, eight different soothing motions, three speeds to choose from, and 15 songs and sounds to delight and comfort your baby.

Plus, you can remove part of the swing to use the seat as a portable rocker throughout your house. Because of all of the little options the swing offers, there’s little chance of your baby not finding a mode that suits him or her. There’s even a Parent Mode so you can save your baby’s speed, vibration, and music settings to be able to use the same combination every time if needed.

Features

  • The swing has three different speeds to choose from as your baby gets a little older and needs the swing to go a little faster than when they were at the newborn stage.
  • There are 15 different songs and sounds to choose from as well.
  • It has a built-in microphone to detect crying and adjust the settings accordingly to soothe your baby.
  • It can be plugged into an outlet, so you won’t need batteries to operate it.
  • You can remove the seat to use it as a portable rocker in your home.

Pros

  • The swing can rock from side to side or back to front.
  • Your baby’s preferred settings can be saved so you can keep it consistent whenever your baby uses the swing.
  • There’s also a “white noise” option in case music doesn’t soothe your baby enough.
  • While you can use batteries, the Graco Sense2Soothe can also be plugged into a wall outlet, which can be preferred by some parents.
  • There’s a lot of padding and cushion for smaller babies as well as older or bigger babies.

Cons

  • It might be hard for some parents to get used to all of the different setting.
  • The swing could be a little pricey for some, especially since you’ll likely get just a few months of use out of it.
  • It could take a little longer than would be preferred for the actual cry detection technology to kick in.
  • The movement can jerk a little instead of starting off smooth.

Primo 2-In-1 Smart Voyager Convertible Infant Swing And High Chair

Primo 2-In-1 Smart Voyager Convertible Infant Swing And High Chair

The Primo 2-in-1 Smart Voyager Convertible Infant Swing and High Chair don’t necessarily have all of the bells and whistles as the Graco Sense2Soothe, but it does have convenient responsive cry activation to help soothe your baby when he or she cries.

It can be controlled manually or by Bluetooth, which is also convenient, and has four timer settings, eight speeds, six height levels, and six recline positions. As a high chair, which it can be converted to, later on, the Primo 2-in-1 has three tray and footrest positions.

The eating tray can be removed to clean in the dishwasher and there’s a removable toy bar for your little one to enjoy. This just adds to the overall convenience of the swing, which is unique in its 2-in-1 design.

Like the Graco, you can use with batteries or an outlet to power the swing. And because it’s a convertible swing and high chair, your baby can use the entire thing from 0-36 months old. If you choose to alternate between using it as a swing and high chair, you can transition it to the other mode in a matter of seconds. You can primarily find it on Amazon.

Pros

  • Unlike a lot of other baby swings, you can convert this one to a high chair as needed, which can then be used until your little one is three years old.
  • When your little one cries, the swing will automatically start rocking to soothe them.
  • There are a lot of different music, vibration, and rocking settings to choose from to be able to comfort your little one.
  • You can also adjust the settings via Bluetooth, which can be convenient.

Cons

  • The sound quality when you play music on the swing could be a little clearer.
  • It is a little on the pricier side.
  • The swing might feel a little lacking in comfort and cushion for smaller or younger babies.
  • Overall, the convertible swing is fairly heavy, which can make moving it difficult.

4Moms MamaRoo 4 Bluetooth-Enabled High-Tech Baby Swing

4Moms MamaRoo 4 Bluetooth-Enabled High-Tech Baby Swing

4Moms is fairly well known for its more unique baby swings and the 4Moms MamaRoo 4 Bluetooth-Enabled High-Tech Baby Swing is definitely a top option for any new or experienced parent.

In order to comfort your little one, it can bounce up and down and sway from side to side in a way that mimics how you, as a parent, would soothe your baby. It has five different speeds and five motions that make up a total of 25 different combinations. And one of them is bound to be what your baby needs.

You can either choose from the four sounds on the swing or connect your device to the swing to play your own sounds or music for your little one as they nap or just relax.

You can choose from a variety of different fabrics for your little one and all of them come off easily for cleaning. That might not be the biggest selling point, but messes do happen, especially when it comes to infants. Unfortunately, the 4Moms swing doesn’t have a cry detector, but thanks to the many different adjustments that can be made and the MP3 plug-in option, it’s still a more advanced swing than your typical baby swing.

It’s also more aesthetically pleasing and is one of those baby swings you won’t mind having out in your home rather than storing away when it’s not in use. You can buy it on the manufacturer’s website and on Amazon.

Pros

  • Overall, the swing doesn’t take up too much space.
  • Among the sound effects is the heartbeat sound, which is unique and can help soothe most babies to sleep.
  • It moves slowly and easily that, unlike as is the case with other baby swings, you won’t eventually come across the clicking noise that happens from a swing moving back and forth.
  • Compared to other baby swings, including the Graco Sense2Soothe, the 4Moms is more affordable.
  • If you download the corresponding app, you can control the swing from your phone.

Cons

  • The audio quality could be a little better.
  • Although you can remove the fabric to clean it, you can’t take off the straps to clean them.
  • It’s a little on the heavier side.
  • The Bluetooth doesn’t always connect clearly or as properly as it should.

Fisher-Price Snugabunny Cradle ‘N Swing With Smart Swing Technology

Fisher-Price Snugabunny Cradle 'N Swing With Smart Swing Technology

The Fisher-Price Snugabunny Cradle ‘n Swing with Smart Swing Technology is similar to the Graco Sense2Soothe, in that it senses your baby’s weight to soothe it fast enough as he or she gets older and bigger.

While it doesn’t have any sort of cry detection technology built-in, the Snugabunny does have a lot of different settings to choose from. Since different babies have different needs or preferences when it comes to falling asleep or being soothed in general, all of the different settings are plenty useful.

It has six different swing speeds and 16 songs and nature sounds to choose from. It also has two recline positions and the seat can be adjusted to face the center, right, or left.

You can plug the swing into a wall outlet to save on batteries, but it can also be powered by batteries in order to use the swing in different rooms around your home. And when you want to convert the swing to different positions, it’s as easy as pressing a button.

It might not necessarily be as technologically advanced as the Graco Sense2Soothe, but the Fisher-Price Snugabunny does have a ton of different settings and is easy to control and adjust. It’s like a mixture of your standard easy baby swing and some technological advances that make it easier to use. Right now, you can primarily find it on Amazon.

Pros

  • There are a lot of different adjustments that can be made to accommodate your little one as they need to be soothed in the swing.
  • You can either plug it in or use it with batteries.
  • It’s also easy to change the swing from one sound or motion to another.
  • Compared to other swings, the Snugabunny is a little more affordable.
  • The swing can move from side to side, which is convenient when a lot of other swings just have the forward-to-back movement.

Cons

  • There’s not as much cushion in this swing as you’d find in other similar swings.
  • Unlike the Graco Sense2Soothe, this one doesn’t have a cry detection feature.
  • The swing can be a little loud at times, which defeats the purpose of using it to soothe your little one to sleep.

Should I Buy the Graco Sense2Soothe Swing with Cry Detection Technology?

Obviously, the Graco Sense2Soothe Swing isn’t the only option out there as far as baby swings go. There are a few comparable swings to choose from that might get the job done in the same way. For the most part. What the others clearly lack is the handy cry detection technology that seems to be specific to the Graco swing.

It’s not the be-all/end-all when it comes to swings by any means, but once you know it’s out there and once you’ve experienced it, you can’t help but see the value in such a feature in a baby swing.

Some parents might find it a little excessive, but when it comes to caring for your infant and keeping them happy and comfortable, there’s no such thing as being over the top or “too much.” Most babies will take to the comfort and soothing motion of a baby swing, so cry detection technology isn’t totally necessary in every case.

But if you want to ensure the right speed, motion, and ease of use, the Graco Sense2Soothe Swing is a solid option. BTW, have you read the Ultimate Graco DuetSoothe Swing Review?
