Buying or registering for a good baby swing is key before your new baby arrives. Not only does a baby swing or rocker typically soothe your baby to sleep for naps, but it also provides them with entertainment at an early age, when toys aren’t really of interest to them just yet.

In this case, the Graco DuetSoothe Swing And Rocker is a solid choice as far as baby swings go. Because not only is it a swing when you need it to be, but it also doubles as a rocker for your little one.  Thereby it covers all the bases in soothing and comforting them while providing you with a happy baby. The Graco DuetSoothe Swing Rocker has been tried and tested, so read on to learn how it can help your little one relax and unwind!

The DuetSoothe can be operated by either batteries or an outlet power source at any given time. You have the option to choose which is convenient for you and when.  And so you won’t have to keep it planted in one area of your home, the top of the swing has a convenient handle for easy carrying from room to room if you want to set it up anywhere else for your baby to enjoy.

While in swing mode, your baby can enjoy three different seating positions while being swayed either back and forth or side to side. Or use it as a rocker with multiple vibration settings and a cushiony room in the seat for your baby’s comfort.

There’s also an attached mobile with three plush toys to entertain your baby and the swing/rocker has six different swinging speeds, 10 songs, and five different nature sounds to soothe and make your baby happy while nestled in the roomy seat.  There really is no denying all of the features that make the swing fun and enjoyable for your baby.

Graco DuetSoothe Swing Rocker Features

  • The swing doubles as a rocker. It can easily detach and then be reattached to use it as both interchangeably.
  • You can either use batteries or a power outlet to run the DuetSoothe.
  • There are multiple songs, vibration settings, and nature sound effects to keep your baby entertained and soothed while sitting in either the swing or rocker.
  • While in the rocker setting, the top acts as a convenient handle so you can pick up the rocker and move it around your home as you need to.
  • As a swing, it’s suitable for babies from 5.5 to 30 pounds, and as a rocker, it’s perfect for babies from 5.5 to 25 pounds.
  • It also has a five-point harness that can be utilized in either the swing or rocker setting.

Pros

  • Since you don’t necessarily have to use batteries, you can always opt to plug in the DuetSoothe. This means you won’t be spending a fortune on new batteries every few weeks.
  • As a swing, it can move either forward and back or side to side. Thus it is convenient for babies who may prefer one direction over the other.
  • You can detach the chair to use as a rocker with just one hand in an easy movement.
  • It’s relatively easy to remove the fabric liner and wash as needed since having a baby in the swing on a regular basis means inevitable messes.

Cons

  • After months of regular use of the swinging feature, it might eventually start to creak or squeak as it swings back and forth.
  • There isn’t much newborn head support. There’s a chance your smaller baby could have their head tilting to one side while they sleep.
  • Although the rocker seat is convenient, it’s much too large to be able to travel with it easily.

How Others Compare

Ingenuity SmartSize 2-In-1 Soothing Solution

graco duetsoothe swing rocker alternatives

Similar to the design of the Graco DuetSoothe, the Ingenuity SmartSize 2-In-1 Soothing Solution is also a baby swing and rocking soother in one.

As a compact baby swing, it takes up considerably less room than your average swing. However, the swing itself can move in every direction if desired. There are also four different vibration settings, multiple melodies, and even a white noise sound featured to help lull your baby to sleep. Of course, if that’s what you need from your baby’s swing or rocker.

To convert the swing to a rocker, you simply lift the seat base from the swing and place it on the floor so your baby can enjoy the soothing rocker on its own and the system is recommended for babies under 20 pounds.

When you want to switch back to the swing mode, t’s just as easy to reconnect the base. Then you have the option of setting a timer of 30, 45, or 60 minutes for the actual swing. Plus, you can wirelessly connect your electronic device to add videos, photos, or music for your baby while he or she is in the swing.

You can either use batteries or the AC adapter in order to save on batteries, but just in case the swing isn’t always close enough to an outlet or you want to bring it outside on the patio, the option for batteries is still convenient.

Pros

  • The control panel on top of the swing is easy to operate and understand.
  • With so many different settings for both the swing and the rocker, you’re bound to find a comfortable enough setting for your baby.
  • There are also light effects to entertain your baby and keep them wanting to come back to the Ingenuity SmartSize.
  • The lightweight frame and smaller size of the system make it easier to store, move around your house, or take with you.

Cons

  • Because of the many different settings and the option to connect to it wirelessly, some parents or caregivers may be intimidated by all of those features.
  • In some cases, you may not be able to use the swing or rocker for very long. This is due to the weight limit of 20 pounds.
  • Adjusting the safety harness straps can get complicated. There’s more than one way to go about doing it.

Fisher-Price Starlight Revolve Swing With Smart Connect

Fisher-Price Starlight Revolve Swing With Smart Connect

For some parents, it’s probably already plenty easy to trust the Fisher-Price brand for their baby’s needs. So it should come as no surprise that the brand also offers the Fisher-Price Starlight Revolve Swing With Smart Connect.

It doesn’t offer the ability to double as a rocker, but it does work hard to soothe and comfort your baby as much as possible. With a similar overall shape to the Graco DuetSoothe and a similar roomy bassinet, the Starlight Revolve definitely brings comfort to your baby when needed.

Instead of needing a constant stream of batteries, the swing is electric, which a lot of parents tend to prefer over batteries. There are six different swing speeds and 16 soothing songs, nature sounds, and white noise sounds to choose from for your little one to feel as comfortable as possible.

It also has a light projection feature, which can entertain your baby while they swing in a standard front-to-back or circular motion. And, as an added bonus, you can control all of these settings with your smartphone.

It may not take much effort to get up and walk a few feet to use the controls on the swing, but it’s still a fun and convenient feature all the same. The swing is suitable for babies from birth up until roughly 25 pounds.

Pros

  • Being able to remotely control the swing with your smartphone is convenient. Especially if you’re in another room for a moment and the swing stops moving or the sound needs to be adjusted in some way.
  • There are soothing songs and sounds to choose from to help your baby relax while in the swing.
  • Overall, the frame is sturdy and reliable to last a while for your baby.
  • The seat pad and cushions are all machine washable, which is convenient for any unexpected (and expected) messes.

Cons

  • The swing will, take up a decent amount of space wherever you decide to place it in your home.
  • Although there are some unique features, for the most part, there aren’t very many bells and whistles to warrant the cost.
  • Since it’s designed specifically for younger babies, and even comes with an infant head support, you’ll want to get use out of it right away, before your baby gets too big too fast.

4moms rockaRoo Baby Swing

4Moms MamaRoo 4 Bluetooth-Enabled High-Tech Baby Swing

The 4moms rockaRoo Baby Swing is another one that stays in just one piece but still does plenty to soothe, rock, and swing your baby at the same time.

It may not swing like your typical baby swing or like the Graco DuetSoothe, but it does rock and back and forth in a similar motion. It even has five different speeds and can be connected to your smartphone or MP3 player to play whatever music you want your baby to listen to in order to be soothed or rocked to sleep.

There aren’t any vibration settings to the 4moms rockaRoo, but there is an added mobile with reversible and removable toys for your baby to enjoy looking at and, eventually, playing with as well.

As with many other baby swings, this particular rocking swing is designed for infants and babies under 25 pounds. But up until that point, it should fit most of them comfortably and safely in the buckled seat.

Speaking of which, the entire fabric of the seat is removable for easy machine washing and when moving the swing around your home, it shouldn’t be an issue, as the entire thing weighs less than 12 pounds overall. Being an AC adaptable swing rather than battery-operated also makes the 4moms rockaRoo that much more approachable and at its core, it’s a simple swing with a simple motion that most babies should respond well to.

Pros

  • The swing doesn’t take up much space and can be easily stored away when not in use.
  • There’s a built-in speaker to play music from your MP3 player as loud or soft as you want to for your baby.
  • Since it doesn’t run on batteries, you won’t have to worry about keeping fresh ones on hand.
  • There are six different speed settings for the swing, giving you more than enough options for your baby to be able to find one that they enjoy the most.

Cons

  • Although the seat itself is spacious and comfortable, it also doesn’t cradle your baby, as it’s more of a wide-open seat.
  • Since it rocks from front to back, it does limit where you can place it, as it could knock against a wall.
  • The seat might feel almost too straight up for newborns to fit comfortably and safely.

Final Thoughts

Clearly, there is a lot that the Graco DuetSoothe Swing And Rocker offer that some other similar swings don’t. Namely, the ability to be both a rocker and a swing independently and be switched back into one piece with ease. It also has so many different settings that you’d be hard-pressed to find one that doesn’t suit your baby well.

While it’s true that plenty of other baby swings also offer multiple speed and comfort settings to give your baby a truly comfortable and soothing experience, the Graco DuetSoothe also has songs and vibrations built-in to really customize the comfort while your baby either swings or sits in the rocker.

Plus, most are in the same general price range, so basing your decision on cost alone likely won’t hold up well. For some families, you may prefer to be able to see the swing in person before you commit to buying it, but judging by all of the swings and swing and rocker combos that compare to the Graco DuetSoothe Swing Rocker, it’s easy to see the value in the Graco swing and rocker that can help soothe and entertain your baby right from the start.
